General Overview
Knoebels Amusement Park is open from April 1st through December 30th with one week off during the year around Christmas when they close on December 23rd and reopen January 2nd.
The park is divided into two sections; “Kiddieland” and the larger section with rides such as roller coasters and water rides.
“Kiddielands” main attractions are its two carousels, one kiddie coaster (the Whirlwind), a ferris wheel, mini-golf, and bumper boats. There is a miniature train track with several layouts that circles around most of Kiddieland allowing for a ride on a small steam or gas powered train.
The larger section of the park has all the bigger rides such as roller coasters, steel corkscrew, water rides, old time flat rides, and the newest addition a wooden roller coaster called “the Twister” added in 2007.
Tickets can be purchased at the entrance gates or in a small store located by the café. Rides have individual ticket prices ranging from an average of $1-4 per person to a max of $9 per person in line with some of the larger rides. The average visit to the park will cost you about $40 for a family of four or five with additional costs if you plan on eating inside the park.
Hours are 10am-10pm during peak season but may vary by a couple hours depending on how busy they are that day. During “Kiddieland” hours they close at 6pm which is when they start to get the more serious coaster riders in.
Fridays usually tend to be the most crowded day of the week with Saturdays and Sundays normally being very close behind.
The best time to come if you want shorter lines is around 2pm-5pm during the summer or any other time besides Friday or Saturday where they are open until 10pm. This way you can hit the most popular attractions in the park first since there are no lines to wait through after 5pm.
The park is easy to navigate with very clearly marked signs for each ride showing you where to go and what line you are waiting for. Everything flows smoothly giving accurate wait times if they are running two trains on any of their large rides.
There are several benches and chairs around the park as well as picnic tables if you chose to eat outside of the café. You can bring your own food into the park since there is no “no outside food” rule other than for some of their events like Pumpkin Fest and Fall Fair.
There is a small arcade that offers games ranging from $0.25-1 per play and a small gift shop that sells unique items not found outside the park including Knoebel’s branded clothes, candy, toys, ornaments, hats, sunglasses, etc.
One of the best things about the park is the lack of advertisements you will see around most attractions. The overall atmosphere is that of a nostalgic amusement park which helps give it charm and character.
Some of the rides may not be suitable for people with certain disabilities or health conditions, but many do offer shorter lines if you are willing to wait. If your choice is between waiting in line or waiting somewhere else then you can request an escort to help you get to where you want to go.
“Kiddieland” is strictly for younger children and offers many rides that fit their criteria. The larger section of the park is geared toward older kids and adults with more thrilling roller coasters and water rides.
Rides outside “Kiddieland” are not required to have someone that is 48 inches tall or above to ride which means the park has rides that most children below those heights will be able to enjoy as well as older kids and adults. There are some rides within Kiddieland that smaller children can ride but you may want to check ahead of time before getting in line with your child.
Over all the park is great with friendly staff, thrilling rides, and an overall nostalgic feeling that will give you a day to remember for years to come.
