Lake Las Vegas is a man-made lake and reservoir in the mountains on the western side of Las Vegas, Nevada; United States. Lake Las Vegas is surrounded by many luxury homes and hotels on the southern part of ‘The Lakes’ development.

Lake Las Vegas is located about 25 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip and provides a wide variety of water sports for kayaking, fishing, boating and swimming. There are hotels on the lake as well as marinas for renting or bringing your own watercraft to explore Lake Las Vegas.

Lake Las Vegas features water skiing, house boating and fishing. The Lake is stocked with game fish year round including Bass, Catfish, Carp, Crappie and Tilapia. There are boat rentals available at several locations on the lake. Houseboats can be rented for full-day or half-day excursions. Full Service Boat Rentals are located at the southern tip of Lake Las Vegas.

At the northern end is a boat launch ramp for trailerable boats. This location also has kayak rentals, scuba diving and parasailing equipment available to rent or use by the public. It is located along Northshore Drive within walking distance from Hotel Steiner which is a luxury boutique hotel and spa located on the northern tip of Lake Las Vegas.

Some of the lake is surrounded by private residences, however there is public access along Northshore Drive all around the entire lake as well as some parking areas for boat trailers. The west side of Lake Las Vegas has public access at Overton Beach Marina, Boulder Launch and the boat launch area near MonteLago Village.

Beach areas on Lake Las Vegas allow public access, including a designated swim area at South Cove Beach. There are several swimming locations along Northshore Drive. There is a marina with fuel docks on the west side of lake where you can also purchase fishing licenses before going out on the lake. Many of the resorts on the lake will rent fishing equipment to their guests as well as provide recommendations for good fishing spots.

Boat rentals are available from several locations at Lake Las Vegas. There is a boat launch ramp for trailerable boats and several docks along Northshore Drive where you can begin your journey around Lake Las Vegas. Fuel docks are located along the west side of the Lake.

On the east side you will find Boulder Launch which is a full service marina with boat rental, fishing tackle and scuba diving equipment rentals. Scuba divers can dive to several shipwrecks on the bottom of Lake Las Vegas located in about 75 feet of water. There is a limited number of licenses granted for divers to explore these shipwrecks.

Can you swim in Lake Las Vegas?

Yes, there are public beaches along the southern part of Lake Las Vegas where swimming is allowed. There are several places to rent or bring your own watercraft for use on the lake. Fishing licenses can be purchased at most sporting good stores in Las Vegas before you go out on Lake Las Vegas. There are some limitations to fishing around the various resorts. There are rules posted at each resort for their guests and notices given to the general public to avoid any problems with water sports around these private properties.

Can you kayak at Lake Las Vegas?

Yes. Canoe and kayak rentals are available from several locations at Lake Las Vegas. Kayaks can be rented or brought at Boulder Launch which is a full service marina on the eastern side of the lake near Northshore Drive. Wooden kayaks can be rented from The Orleans Hotel and Casino Resort located just off Northshore Drive on the eastern side of Lake Las Vegas. You can paddle from this point out towards Boulder Island where you will find a small beach area for swimming and sunning.

Where do you park for water sports at Lake Las Vegas?

Parking is available in many locations around Lake Las Vegas. There are parking areas for boat trailers on the west side near MonteLago Village. On the east side you will find several large parking lots to begin your journey at Boulder Launch Marina along Northshore Drive. Overton Beach also provides limited free parking, however there are no facilities located here to rent water sports equipment.

Where do you fish at Lake Las Vegas?

There are several fishing locations around the entire lake. On the west side you will find parking areas for boat trailers near hotels and resorts where lake front access is readily available. There are restrictions to fishing along some parts of Lake Las Vegas that are posted by the individual resorts.

Is Lake Las Vegas water safe?

The water is tested regularly by the Southern Nevada Health District to ensure it is safe for swimming. Be sure to check with each resort before venturing out on any of the waterways around Lake Las Vegas because some areas are off limits or have restrictions posted for their guests. There are several hot spots throughout the lake where fish are actively feeding so you can find fish in several locations around Lake Las Vegas.
