Coasteering Ireland take small groups of up to 6 people on exciting coasteering adventures in County Waterford where participants will experience the thrill of leaping head first off spectacular high cliffs into the sea while being coached by professional instructors.

The area around County Waterford has been known for its natural beauty and unique coastline for many years. The wide variety of rock formations and sea cliffs, rocky ledges and sheltered coves make this area an ideal location to discover the famous Cliffs of Moher and the beautiful coastline beyond.

Coasteering Ireland is a not-for-profit club run by professional instructors who believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the excitement of coasteering. The club provide high quality, safe and enjoyable outdoor experiences to people of all ages in a supportive and fun environment.

Coasteering sessions are suitable for anyone over the age of 12 years who is reasonably fit. Sessions last three hours including preparation time. Coasteering Ireland can provide equipment if requested but please note that participants should bring trainers or aqua shoes for rock hopping.

Coasteering Ireland is based in Kilmacthomas, County Waterford. Exploring the cliffs of County Waterford can also be combined with a visit to some of this region’s many attractions including Dunmore East, Fota Wildlife Park and Cobh.

Coasteering Ireland offer both coasteering and surfing trips to their local region.

Coasteering trips are available from Easter to September and surfing trips run all year. Coasteering Ireland also offers a variety of coasteering courses for those wishing to learn this activity from professionals. Coasteering Ireland provide classes for beginners, intermediate and experienced coasteerers.

Coasteering Ireland is a Section 21 Company which means that all funds received from Places are managed by the company and not by Volunteers . Section 21 is a company structure which has certain advantages for voluntary organisations.

All coasteering adventures with Coasteering Ireland are run in strict accordance with the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) guidelines for responsible adventure tourism.

On coasteering trips participants are coached by experienced instructors to provide a safe experience on an activity which is suitable for anyone over the age of 12 years who is reasonably fit. How much does Coasteering Ireland cost?

Prices vary depending on group size, location and time of year. It usually costs between €30-€50 per person to coasteer with Coasteering Ireland. This includes equipment hire, coaching and safety cover.

Group discounts are available for trips where there are more than 10 participants.

What is the minimum number of people required for Coasteering Ireland?

At least 4 people must book in order to run a trip although groups are usually larger. If there are less than 4 people signed up Coasteering Ireland will either reschedule the trip or refund the participants if they are flexible.

Is Coasteering Ireland safe?

Coasteering is a very safe activity as long as all participants follow safety instructions from instructors and adhere to basic safety rules. Participants must be reasonably fit and over 12 years of age. Coasteering Ireland instructors take great time and care to ensure all participants are safe during trip. All instructors are trained in first aid to national standards.

What else do I need to know before Coasteering Ireland?

For coasteering trips participants should wear trainers or aqua shoes, swimwear and old clothes that can get wet. On surfing trips please bring a swimming costume, towel and old clothes you don’t mind getting wet! Training equipment is supplied by Coasteering Ireland. Participants should be prepared for all weather types. During the winter months coasteering sessions are run in sheltered coves where conditions are suitable. Coasteering Ireland regularly runs coasteering trips in the spring, summer, autumn and winter when conditions are favourable. Coasteering is not possible during high tide when water levels are too high.

What other events do Coasteering Ireland run?

Coasteering Ireland regularly runs social events, trips and programmes. Trips are usually free or very cheap to join although you must pay for transport and equipment hire. Social functions include BBQ’s, quiz nights, movies, cook outs etc…

Can Coasteering Ireland take photos?

Yes. The club can take group and individual photos as well as videos if appropriate consent is given by participants. Participants must be aware that photos and videos may be used by the club for promotion or social media use . If you do not wish your photo to be taken please inform instructors.
